Enchanted Parks 2011

This evening I visited Saltwell Park in Gateshead to see this years Enchanted Parks. This event has been held at Saltwell Park 5 years running, however this time was my first visit. Not knowing what to expect we were greeted with light effects on trees, and suspended metal cages. Following the paths through the dark, you come across light shows up against trees, and interactive events to get involved with.

As you follow little light up arrows round the park, you are treated to a delightful light show, which also includes music. All the installations have been created by a range of North East artist and performers, along with university students.
To get the kids involved they got them to create little collages, then magnified them under a camera and projected them on to the walls of Saltwell Towers in a kaleidoscope of shapes.
Walking through the old stone arches, and seeing the old bandstand standing along all light up was a magnificent sight. It looked absolutely amazing, and only on getting closer you could see that intertwined with the lights were roses (I was a little disappointed that they weren't real!)

I would deffinately recommend anyone to go, but be quick because it is a ticketed event and it is only on till Sunday! Here's the link to the info page to check it out yourself... Saltwell Park Enchanted Parks 2011
